Can softraid do raid 64/3/2024 ![]() What happened? NDD attempts to "repair" the partition map of ONE of the striped volume partitions, and CHANGES the partition type to HFS. Mirrored volumes will mount twice on the desktop. Upon reboot, ALL striped volumes are gone, not just the volume that was being worked on. What causes the potential problem? A user will run Norton Disk Doctor version 4.0 beta. When a repair by NDD is attempted on a disk, however, all partitions on that drive will be affected. We do not yet know whether this happens anytime NDD is making repairs, or just when attempting to repair certain types of corrupted volumes. We have already seen several instances of data lost reported. We have discovered a serious problem when using Symantec's public beta of Norton Disk Doctor with SoftRAID that can cause permanent loss of data. This applies to any user of SoftRAID, Apple RAID, RAIDware, or ImageRAID. This is a potentially catastrophic data loss scenario. NDD can cause damage to your volumes when making repairs. ![]() Do not run the Norton Utilities 4.0 beta software (Norton Disk Doctor) under any circumstances on SoftRAID volumes.
