Where to find subtitle files4/6/2024 A VTT file can be opened in any text editor, such as Notepad on Windows, or Textedit on a Mac.If the video already has subtitles generated for it, you can download them from the Video Portal by clicking the ‘ Options‘ button under the video and selecting ‘ Download subtitles‘.Download the existing subtitle (.vtt) file Once subtitles are available, follow the steps below to edit and replace them. If a video does not yet have subtitles generated or it, you will first need to request these by clicking the ‘ Options‘ button under the video and selecting ‘ Request subtitles‘. The process for editing/replacing subtitle is:ĭownload existing VTT file > Edit in a text editor > Upload to replace PLEASE NOTE – you must use a plain text editor to edit the subtitle file, do not use Microsoft Word, or other rich-text editors, as this will add incorrect formatting and the subtitles will not display in the player. This can be useful if you need to correct errors in the existing file. If you are the original uploader of a video on the Video Portal (i.e the video appears in your My Videos list) you can replace the existing subtitle file with another valid VTT file.
